Curtis D Liveoak Jr

Mr. Curtis D. Liveoak, Jr., age 78, of Wilsonville, Alabama, passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. Born on October 1, 1946, Curtis was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a man who lived with a servant’s heart, a big laugh, a deep love for his family, friends, and community, and a love for storytelling. He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis Dewey Liveoak, Sr. and Georgia Lucille Wooten Liveoak; his beloved son, Camron Glenn Liveoak; and his siblings, Sue Liveoak Kilgore, Elvin Liveoak, John Wesley “J.W.” Liveoak, Jean Horton, Lamar Liveoak, Jewel Liveoak, Ida Liveoak, Thomas “Tommy” Liveoak, Reed Storey, Deanie Storey Abbott, Johnny Storey, and Hilda Giddens. Curtis is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Martha Gail Liveoak; his children, Dana Miskelley, Chris Liveoak (Marie), Kayla Liveoak, Kasey Liveoak; grandchildren, Steven Miskelley (Liz), Jasmin, Nicole, Cody Miskelley (Libbie), Lexus Liveoak; and bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Daniel Meherg (Mallory) and their children McKenzie and Grayson; Victoria Meherg and her children Oakley and Crimson. He is also survived by his sister, Joann Riggsby; sister-in-law, Rosemary Cosper Liveoak; his niece, Cristin Liveoak Dillard (Chip), and their children, Thomas and Emily Dillard; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Curtis was a long-time employee of the Town of Wilsonville, where he worked faithfully and humbly in service to others throughout the community. He also owned and operated the family shoe store and repair shop in Childersburg, Alabama, where he spent years building relationships, swapping stories, and quietly helping others in need. Known for his big laugh — one that was somehow larger than life and full of heart that matched the life he lived and the magnitude at which he cared for others — Curtis brought joy wherever he went. He was indeed a storyteller and entertainer at heart. If you had the pleasure of hearing one of his tales, you know they were as vivid and memorable as the man himself. He was a man of acts — not words. Helping others was his way of showing how deeply he cared. He never met a stranger. He would drop everything to lend a hand, especially to those in greatest need. His life was a quiet but powerful example of what it means to love thy neighbor. He loved life, and he loved his people. Curtis will be deeply missed — for his laugh, his stories, his fierce loyalty, and for the way he carried traces of those who went before him, but he has now transitioned into a place of healing and peace. A place like none we’ve seen on earth where in his heavenly form, fully restored, praising Jesus he waits for the joyous day of reunion with loved ones. May we all take a lesson from his life: serve selflessly, love generously, and make others laugh along the way. A graveside service will take place on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at Fourmile Baptist Church Cemetery located at 15577 Highway 61, Wilsonville, Alabama.
