Dottie Pate Estock

Estock, Dottie Pate, age 95, of Shelby, departed from this life on April 12, 2026. A gathering of friends and family will be held on April 22, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Bolton Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 11:00 AM at Pinelawn Gardens with Dr. Stephen T. Estock officiating. Mrs. Estock met the love of her life, Bill Estock, after she moved from Shelby to Birmingham and went to work for U.S. Steel in the secretarial pool. On the night that they met, Bill Estock was leaving for Parris Island Marine Base for Basic Training and then on to two years of active duty. They wrote each other while he was in the Marines and then married after he returned home from active duty. They raised two children, a son, William M. Estock, Jr., and a daughter, Mary Lee Estock Erhart. Mrs. Estock was an avid Auburn football fan and became a season ticket holder in 1979 after her daughter graduated from Auburn and she rarely missed a game. She retired from Alabama Power Corporate Office after moving to their Lay Lake home in Shelby Shores and spent her days enjoying the lake and helping raise two grandchildren. Both Mr. and Mrs. Estock were very active in the Shelby Volunteer Fire Department, Mr. Estock as the Fire Chief and Mrs. Estock as the Secretary/Treasurer. They were active members of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Pell City and regularly volunteered at Shelby Elementary School, where their grandchildren attended. Mrs. Estock was preceded in death by her parents, Green Pate and Cora Lee Cardin Pate, her husband, William M. Estock, Sr. (Bill), son William M. (Mike) Estock, Jr., (Susan), one sister, Helen (Goody) Brasher (Jack), and two brothers, Virgil Wilton Pate (Ada Mae) and George Walton (Joe) Pate (Dorris). She is survived by her daughter, Mary Lee Estock Erhart (Mike), grandchildren, Stephen M. Erhart (Fran) and Adam C. Erhart (Kaitlyn), Miranda Faye Estock, and Marissa Green Estock, three great grandchildren, McKenlee Erhart, Weston Erhart and Kolson Erhart, and numerous family and friends.
