Eulee Juanita Salser Minor

Eulee Juanita Salser Minor, known to everyone as Susie, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 26, 2026, at the age of 91, after a brief stay in hospice, where she was surrounded by visiting family and friends. Susie was born April 25, 1935, in Shelby County, Alabama, to Horace and Myrtle Kendrick Salser. After her mother's death from tuberculosis, she was raised by her maternal aunt and uncle, Roy and Reathie Gardner. On December 6, 1952, she eloped to Lowndes County, Mississippi, and married Billy Wayne Minor Sr. They were married nearly sixty years. Primarily a homemaker, Susie also worked off and on as a waitress at the original Lloyd's restaurant and served as a steady helpmate in the family business. She was a lifelong Christian and devoted member of Redemption Church at K-Springs, with a strong and steady spiritual life. She believed nothing was too hard for God, riding around with Jeremiah 32:27 as her license plate for decades. Those who knew Susie remember her as big-hearted, feisty, a little eccentric, and fiercely loyal. She never forgot a birthday and always called, and insisted every family member have their favorite cake on their special day. She made the best dill pickles, chili and cornbread. Longhorn Steakhouse and DeSoto's Seafood Kitchen in Gulf Shores were among her favorite places to eat. She loved cats and animals of every kind and spent hours birdwatching for osprey. She shopped religiously at Target, required shoes off at her door, and was famously, endearingly late; if she gave you a time, you added two hours to it. She made a point of including everyone in everything, inviting family along on vacations and gatherings alike, and she and Billy were known for their generosity to all. Susie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Billy, and her siblings, Louise Dorough, Roderick Salser, Ruby Hardy, and Doris Watters. She is survived by her children, B. Wayne Minor Jr., Cindy Minor, and Debra (Daryl) Parks; her grandchildren, Jeffrey Rooks, Christopher Rooks, Stephen Parks, Teá Minor, Mia Minor, Katie Minor, and Stacy K. Mitchell; and her great-grandchildren, Harding Rooks, Calvin Rooks, and twins Harper and Scout Mitchell. A celebration of life will be held Thursday, July 30, 2026, with visitation from 2:00 to 3:00 PM, followed by the service at 3:00 PM, at Redemption Church at K-Springs. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Shelby County Humane Society or the church.
