Betty Lynnette Durden Garner, age 78, of Dawsonville, GA passed away on Monday, July 15, 2024, at her residence. She began her career as a salon business owner, where she nurtured her creativity and connected deeply with her clients. Later, driven by an unwavering passion for helping others, she returned to school to earn her Associate Degree as a registered nurse. Betty thrived in her nursing career, fulfilling her lifelong dream, and touching countless lives before retiring in the serene beauty of northern Georgia, at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Betty left us with a legacy of memories that paint a picture of a life well-lived and deeply cherished. Ms. Betty Garner was born on December 1, 1945, in Soperton, Georgia to the late Elvin Durden and the late Lora Mae Phillips Durden. She was also preceded in death by her former husband, Giles Jackson Garner; son, Richard Giles Garner; two brothers and one sister. Survived by daughters: Angel, (Rick) Brown, and Sandie (Mike) Hitchcock, Nine Grandchildren; eight Great- Grandchildren; One Brother, and Four Sisters. Betty's favorite color was blue, a perfect match to the sparkle in her eyes. Those eyes saw the world through a lens of wonder and adventure, always ready to share a random story from her past. She would recount stories such as the days of her youth, where she and her sisters would prime the well and wash each other's hair, laughing and bonding over the simplest of tasks. Betty Garner was more than just a grandmother; she was a beacon of wisdom, love, and faith. Her stories, her laughter, and her unwavering spirit will continue to guide and inspire us. As we say goodbye, we remember her not with sadness, but with gratitude for the countless ways she enriched our lives. Rest in peace, Nana. Visitation with the family will be on Friday, July 19, 2024, from 2:00-3:00 with the Funeral service at 3:00.
