Lou Jean Posey

"Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised." Born on January 19, 1933, Lou Jean was the eldest child and only daughter of Dewey and Annie Key from Walker County, Alabama and, with her parents, joyfully welcomed into her life four beloved brothers: Kirby, Clay, Ray and Wayne. "A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies." Married on March 19, 1952 to B. Frank Posey, III, they enjoyed fifty-nine years of marriage, were parted for a short span by his passing and are now reunited to enjoy eternity together. "Your beauty should not come from outward adornment...instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight." During their nearly sixty years of marriage, Lou lived as a faithful wife and strong anchor to her husband as they ministered to countless lives throughout the state of Alabama, ever pointing others to the matchless love of our faithful God and Father, in part through the beauty of their committed marriage. "He settles the childless woman in her home as a happy mother of children. Praise the LORD." Though Lou, alongside Frank, shared her life and love with many through her role as a pastor's wife, by far her greatest joy was that of nurturing their beloved children, Larry Frank Posey (June) of Deer Park, AL and Lori Posey Thompson (Tim) of Pelham, AL, along with their four grandchildren: Andrew, Heather, Samuel and Maggie Grace. "Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate." Never given to idleness, Lou was a wonderful homemaker, a perfect hostess, an exceptional cook infamous especially for her banana pudding, and could set aside all anxieties when pursuing her favorite past time, gardening. She was always quick to share a fresh pot of soup or bouquet of flowers, particularly with the elderly and infirmed for whom she shared a special affection. "Brother and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. Therefore encourage one another with these words." Those most encouraged by this unfailing hope during their time of sorrow include her children and their spouses, her grandchildren, three surviving brothers and their wives, many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and special friends, along with dear and faithful caregivers, both private and those employed by Comfort Care Hospice, who eased her passing. You, each and every one, were a blessing to her and to her family. A celebration of Lou’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Bolton Funeral Home in Columbiana, AL with interment in Pinelawn Cemetery immediately following the service. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1 - 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
