Peggy Joyce Watson Crowson

Our precious Momma and Nana left this earth for her Heavenly Home on August 19, 2024. She was immediately embraced by Jesus, our Daddy, and all of her family and friends. We are completely heartbroken to lose our beloved Momma, the backbone of our family, but we are thankful she is completely healed, no more dementia and no more neuropathy. She was a homemaker and seamstress in the Montevallo area for many years, where she never, ever met a stranger. She could strike up a conversation with anyone, and soon find out she was somehow related to them. She loved sewing for others, doing alterations for numerous Shelby County residents, including several local dry cleaners. Her sewing room was filled with lots of love and too many sewing machines and supplies to count! She collected many trinkets, including bells and pitchers. She loved it when either she, her family, or her customers traveled and brought back a thimble. She would tear off a slip of paper, write their name and year given, fold it, and place it into each thimble. Her collection included well over 1000 thimbles! She was a great athlete too, playing softball and volleyball with her daughters well into her 40s! She is pre-deceased by our precious Daddy, and her loving husband of 47 years (1957-2004): Edgar Lee Crowson; her parents: Erbie Lee and Sadie Bell Littlejohn Watson. Her sisters: Eva Viola Watson, and Linda Gail Stout (Robert); her brothers: Erbie Lee Watson Jr (Lennie Pearl), Charles Milford Watson, and William Melvin (Bill) Watson (Patricia); one grandson Brody Holcombe; and numerous brothers and sisters in law, nieces, and nephews, all who were there to welcome her to her Heavenly Home! She is survived by her 4 daughters “The Girls”: Gayla Darlene Schofield (Jerry) Calera, AL, Jeanette Arlene Citta (Greg), Ball Ground, GA, Vicki Charlene Holcombe (Bruce) Columbiana, AL and Stacey Karlene Lingo (Ricky) Alabaster AL; 8 grandchildren: Robert Schofield (Jaclyn), Michael Schofield (Abbie), Catherine Citta, Joseph Citta (Jessika), Brett Holcombe (Marissa), Brad Holcombe (Katie), Chris Lingo (Danielle), and Ryan Lingo (Hannah). She was blessed to get to meet 8 of her great grands: Natalie Schofield, Bennett Schofield, Parker Citta, Elliott Holcombe, Riley, Bethany and Connor Lingo, and Tate Lingo, and was ready to meet #9, Aubrey Schofield, due in early September. What a wonderful legacy she leaves behind! Our family would like to thank her caregivers at Plantation Manor, McCalla, AL for their love and care over the past 19 months: Robin, Taylor, Renee, Kayla, Ms. Jackson, Diane, and Joyce loved on mother and took such great care of her, and we will miss their presence in our lives, but we will be forever grateful for their friendship, care and love! We are also thankful for Southeast Hospice for their compassion and care over the past difficult few weeks. A celebration of a life well lived will be held at Bolton Funeral Home, Columbiana, AL on Friday, August 23, 2024. A viewing will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM. Pastor Jason Hobbs officiating. She will be laid to rest for eternity next to our Daddy at Pine Hill Cemetery, Jemison, AL . Her grandchildren will serve as her pallbearers. Purple or bright colors were her favorites, and if you have something purple or colorful, please wear it. She had a colorful personality, and was never sad! In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Alzheimer’s of Central Alabama.
