Richard W Jones Sr

Richard W. Jones, Sr., a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2023, at his home in Alabaster, AL, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born in Shelby (Boothton), AL, on August 21, 1948, to John Malcolm Jones and Minnie Louise (Yeager) Jones. Richard was a man of many accomplishments and a pillar of his community. For years, he dedicated himself to serving others as the proud owner of Independent Auto Clinic in Homewood, AL. Beyond his professional success, Richard was a distinguished member in Freemasonry, he was raised to the degree of Master Mason in May of 1986 at Bluff Park Lodge No. 856, and in June of the same year he joined the Zamora Shrine. Richard was initiated into the York Rite and received the Order of the Temple in June 1986 at Cyrene Commandery No. 10. In September of 1997 Richard obtained the rank of 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason at the Valley of Birmingham AASR. At the time of his passing, Richard was a member of Buck Creek Lodge No.410. But beyond his professional and fraternal achievements, Richard's true joy in life came from the time he spent with his family. He cherished every moment he shared with his children: Richard W. Jones, Jr., Richard W. Jones, III (Wayne), and Christina L. Jones Davis. His heart swelled with love for his grandchildren, Ethan Jones, Shelley Davidson, Willow Davis, and Kathryn Davis. He cherished every opportunity to create memories with them, imparting his wisdom and instilling in them the values he held dear. Richard was also a loving brother to Madalyn Mitchell, and though he was predeceased by his parents and siblings Betty Lanora Morris, Frances Louise Swann, and Malcolm “Leroy” Jones, their memory lived on in his heart. A kind and generous soul, Richard was known for his warm smile, compassionate spirit, and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His presence illuminated the lives of those around him, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him. The family invites friends and well-wishers to pay their respects at an Open Viewing on Saturday, August 5th, 2023, from 11 A.M. to 12 P.M. at Bolton Funeral Homes in Columbiana, AL. The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 14th, 2023, at 11 A.M. at the National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that you consider making a donation in Richard's honor to Shriners Hospitals, an organization close to his heart. Richard W.
