Roy C Minton

Roy C. Minton, 86, of Harpersville, Alabama, passed away on November 10, 2023, at his residence. He was born on October 29, 1937, in Attalla, Alabama, to the late Roy C. Minton and Exa Emma Ramey. Roy was the beloved husband of Anne H. Minton and the devoted father of Meredith Minton Harvill. He is also survived by his sisters, Doris, Sylvia, and Leeta, his son-in-law James C. Harvill III, his grandchildren Garrett Butler, Jaxon Harvill, and Sam Harvill, his great grandchild Lochlan Butler, as well as his cherished dog Milo. Roy was preceded in death by his brother Ronnie K. Minton. Roy was known for his kind and jovial nature, always displaying a sense of curiosity and selflessness. Roy was detail-oriented and conscientious in all aspects of his life. He possessed a savvy and inquisitive mind, which led him to excel in his career. After completing his higher education at Samford University, Roy served in the Air National Guard in the 117th Tactical Reconnaissance Group during the Berlin Crisis. His military associations were a source of pride for him, and he carried the values he learned during his service throughout his life. Roy's career spanned several decades, during which he worked as a computer programmer for the City of Atlanta and the City of Birmingham. He later joined his wife, Anne, as the Chief of Operations for The Minton Company, where he dedicated 39 years of his life. In his free time, Roy enjoyed researching tech innovation and expanding his knowledge. He had a passion for learning and was always eager to embrace new ideas and technologies. Roy always loved animals. He and Anne raised a loyal Fox Terrier named Jumbo for the first 18 years of their marriage. Pets were part of the family during their entire marriage. His terrier Milo was his faithful companion for almost 10 years. Roy was actively involved in facilitating cat rescue with his daughter, Meredith. Their love of animals will be an everlasting bond between them. He saw her passion for saving cats and supported her, including taking cats into his home and heart. Roy was a member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church, where he found solace and community. His faith was a private matter, and he valued his relationship with the Lord and his place of worship. There will be a small, private graveside funeral of family and close friends which will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, November 16, 2023 in Columbiana, Alabama.
