Ruth Marie Chapman

Ruth Marie Chapman daughter of George and Victoria Rose Punton, was born on March 1, 1935 in Minneapolis, Minnesota and passed away peacefully on Tuesday December 3, 2024 in Birmingham, AL surrounded by the love of her family. She was a woman of extraordinary grace, strength, and spirit who left an indelible mark on everyone she met. She grew up in Chula Vista, CA and was raised with her couisins Bunny, Kay, and Joey as her siblings. Ruth cultivated her strong work ethic early, a trait that carried her through her life as she raised seven children after the early death of her husband Neale Chapman with unwavering love and determination. Ruth led a remarkable and vibrant life, with dedication to both her family and her work providing for her children on her own. She embraced many careers throughout her life, each reflecting her diverse talents and unwavering work ethic which included roles at several esteemed companies. She began by pursuing her passion for beauty, attending beauty school and obtaining her cosmetology license. She worked in Point Loma, CA, providing makeup, facials, and hair removal services, where she built lasting relationships with her clients. She worked for Aida Grey Makeup and Skin Company, where she helped others feel confident and beautiful. She also contributed to the health and wellness industry as a valued member of Jack LaLanne Health, embodying the principles of vitality she believed in. Her career extended to banking, where she worked diligently. In addition to her work in beauty and health, she ventured into entrepreneurship, running a landscaping business in Coronado for a time before opening a women's clothing store in Bonita, CA. She later transitioned to working at a Honda car dealership in El Cajon, CA, demonstrating her adaptability and strong work ethic throughout her career. She had a passion for tennis and spent countless joyful hours on the court, both as a competitor and a fan. She was a skilled chess player who loved the challenge of strategy. Her love of interior decorating and fashion brought a unique elegance to every space and occasion, while her enthusiasm for shopping and traveling made every outing an adventure. Sunshine was her constant companion, and she never missed an opportunity to enjoy its warmth with her family and friends. She is survived by her children Deborah Rivera, Cyndee McCusker, Wendi Fuson, Brad Chapman, Pamela Behrle, Michelle Moorehead, Matt Chapman, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other family members who were the center of her world. Her family finds comfort in knowing her spirit will live on in the traditions and values she instilled in them. This was Ruth’s legacy: a life filled with love, laughter, strength, endless creativity and boundless generosity. Though her absence leaves a profound void, her spirit continues to inspire and guide those who knew her. A visitation for Ruth will be held on Monday, December 9, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Bolton Funeral Home. A celebration of Ruth's life will follow at 11:00 AM. She will be laid to rest at Pinelawn Gardens.
